Textbook Ventures is back for another incredible year. Textbook Ventures has been Sydney’s premier community for student entrepreneurs starting out as a student-led VC fund in 2016 and pivoting in 2018 to become a non-profit student-led organisation.

In 2022, we are continuing our mission to inspire students to take control of their own personal success stories and become catalysts of change. From running events to digital campaigns, we strive to build a community of like-minded students and provide a launch-pad to connect students to opportunities in the Australian startup ecosystem.

Head of Digital 🎨

As the Head of Digital, you’ll be leading our digital portfolio and driving our social media campaigns and initiatives. You will have complete ownership of our social media channels LinkedIn, Twitter and TikTok run by Elysia.

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Create outreach across our socials including content marketing and event marketing collateral
  • Responsible for creating infographics and digital content for our social media channels using Canva
  • Manage our editorial content and write blogs including founder interviews

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience with graphic design and creating content using Canva
  • Previous experience with managing social media accounts i.e. a foodie instagram account

Social Media Manager 📣

You’ll work alongside our Head of Digital to lead the creative direction of TBV’s digital content and social media presence. We are looking to expand our online reach through educational content.

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Work on our social media branding and content design across our various platforms i.e. LinkedIn
  • Manage our social media accounts and generate outreach via event marketing
  • You’ll be conceptualising Textbook Ventures’ creative direction and branding

What we’re looking for:

  • Design experience with graphic design and creating content using Canva
  • Experience with managing social media accounts or a personal account

Blog Writer ✍️

Do you have a knack for writing or a passion for storytelling? As a blog writer, you’ll work alongside the digital team to write medium blogs on topics that interest you.

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Reaching out and interviewing startup founders, operators and investors
  • Write blogs on a range of topics- startup and tech trends.
  • Analyse engagement of our medium blogs to figure out timely topics and startup trends to write about.

What we’re looking for:

  • Written communication skills and experience with writing articles for a university publication, personal blog or through an internship.
  • Consistency and commitment- ideally we are looking to produce 2 blogs per month.

Podcast Host 🎙️

Ever wanted to host a podcast? This is your opportunity to host our Launch Codes Podcast previously run by Saurav. With an established platform and following, the Launch Codes Podcast seeks to inspire students to learn from leaders and innovators to develop their own personal success stories.

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Host the Launch Codes Podcast with an established platform- interviewing founders, investors and industry thought leaders
  • Establish your voice and network in the ANZ startup ecosystem
  • Collaborate with the Textbook Ventures team to create digital content- reels, audio snippets and promotional content.

What we’re looking for:

  • Communication skills and prior experience running and MCing events and interviews
  • Collaborative and strong organisational skills to manage the podcast with guidance from the team
Launch Codes Podcast: Shining a light on the stories of leaders in the tech, startup and VC industry

Video Editor 🎬

You’re the video editing wizard in charge of videography and creating reels, video snippets for our Youtube channel. With a keen eye for design, you will be exploring new ways of promoting the Launch Codes Podcast.

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Edit audio clips using audacity and distribute podcast episodes to various platforms
  • Create video snippets using Adobe Premiere Pro to promote content
  • Lead the creative direction of the podcast using Canva to create podcast thumbnails and sourcing background audio tracks

What we’re looking for:

  • Familiarity with editing and design software programs i.e. Audacity and Adobe Suite
  • Experience creating youtube and video thumbnails using Canva

Head of Events 🎤

You will be up front and centre MCing industry leaders, founders and investors. With Elaha our former Head of Events leaving, we are looking for a vibrant Events Lead to take charge over our events team. Previous events we have run include our Startup Careers Fair, Intro to Crypto Panel and Break into VC Panel Event.

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Lead cross-functional planning, execution, and follow-up of large-scale events, including collateral materials
  • Event operations management, partnerships outreach and feedback tracking post-event
  • Creating a year-round events calendar from in-person career fairs to virtual AMA panel events
  • Liaise with the digital team regarding recommendations for future events

What we’re looking for:

  • Collaborative and organisational skills to manage our events portfolio
  • Strong communication skills to host AMAs and panel events
  • Have a bias for action managing events and partnerships

Events Director 📅

We’re looking for an excellent communicator and passionate student to manage Textbook’s events alongside our Head of Events. You’ll be leading different projects and working to help deliver our events.

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Organise AMA sessions and large events including our Startup Careers Fair and manage the events team to arrange outreach campaigns
  • Coordinate event logistics and co-host our industry panel events and founder interviews
  • Facilitate partnerships and assist with promotional material for TBV’s events

What we’re looking for:

  • Strong communication skills to host AMAs, panel events and career fairs
  • Have a bias for action managing events and partnerships
2021 VC Case Challenge: MCs coordinating the grand final

Head of Community 👥

As the Head of Community, you will be actively engaging with students and founders within our community and across our social media platforms i.e. LinkedIn. In 2022, we plan to the build a community for young entrepreneurs following our 2021 Student Startup Pitch Competition.

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Organise community initiatives to supercharge our community of student entrepreneurs and students interested in startups and tech
  • Be an active voice for Textbook Ventures, forming partnerships and identifying opportunities for growth and community-building
  • Arrange internal catch-ups and bonding sessions to create a cohesive team
  • Run and organise TBV’s mentorship program connecting students to industry mentors in the startup space

What we’re looking for:

  • Proactive and strategic thinking with brainstorming community events and initiatives
  • Experience with scaling a community- demonstrable experience with growing a social media account or running a university society

As we are a student not-for-profit organisation, these are all volunteer roles. Time commitment for each role is approximately 4 hours per week.
